Steel Pipes Manufacturing Processes
The production of steel pipes involves meticulous processes to meet stringent standards.
1. Raw Material Preparation
High-quality steel billets or coils are used, ensuring the initial material meets standard specifications.
2. Pipe Formation
Seamless Pipes (SMLS): Manufactured by hot-forming a cylindrical steel billet into a hollow pipe.
Welded Pipes: Includes processes like electric resistance welding (ERW) or submerged arc welding (SAW).
3. Heat Treatment
Heat treatments such as normalizing or quenching are performed to refine the grain structure and optimize mechanical properties.
4. Quality Control and Testing
API 5L mandates rigorous testing for dimensional accuracy, chemical composition, and mechanical properties. Hydrostatic testing, UT inspection, and impact testing are common for PSL2 products.
