Butt Weld Reducer
ASME B16.9 Butt Weld Reducer is utilized to connect pipes of different sizes. Its ends are beveled to match a similar bevel on the pipe. The ends are then butt-welded to the pipeline and joined with a full penetration weld.
It uses seamless or welded pipe as the starting material and is forged (through multiple processes) to get the shape of a reducer. Carbon steel is more common in a butt weld reducer due to the cost advantage. Sch 10 pipe reducers are also more common in stainless steel fittings.
Our supply range is from small Ecc Reducer 2″ x 1/2″ A234 WPB to large Weld Conc Reducer 56″ x 36″ SS400, and Galvanized Reducer is in our service. Customers can find their target reducers from us.

Concentric Reducer VS Eccentric Reducer
Both function to change the diameter and stabilize the fluid.
- A concentric reducer is symmetrical, both ends are aligned along the center, while an eccentric is not symmetrical, the ends are off-center from one another.
- Eccentric Reducer can be used in reverse as an eccentric increaser/expander.The ecc reducer can avoid the bad effect of liquid or gas accumulation on pipeline.

Carbon Steel Pipe Reducer
It has good weldability and can obtain a high-quality welding joint without special process measures. Also has good plasticity, little quenching tendency, and is difficult to produce a cold crack in the near seam.
Generally, A234 WPB pipe reducers do not require preheating before welding. However, for thicker sections or in low-temperature environments, they should be preheated to approximately 150 ℃.
Stainless Steel Butt Weld Reducer
Stainless steel pipe reducer is widely used in many fields due to the excellent properties of stainless steel.
A403 WP304 and WP316 pipe reducer is one of the most common materials at present, and corrosion resistance is an important index to measure the SS 316 pipe reducer. As a result, the stainless steel passivization has been carried out, and the structure of the passivization film with a good protective effect has been studied in depth.
CS reducer’s construction is stronger than the SS reducer. It is wear-resistant and can withstand high pressure, but is also susceptible to corrosion.
Alloy Steel Butt Weld Reducer
In order to improve the properties of steel, alloy elements are added to carbon steel, such as silicon, manganese, chromium, nickel, tungsten, vanadium, titanium, etc. This kind of steel is alloy steel.
With the same amount of carbon, an alloy steel butt weld reducer has significantly higher strength than a carbon steel reducer. It has good toughness, plasticity, and corrosion resistance. The properties of the alloy steel reducer will vary according to the alloy elements.
